Akron AAYAT Makes A Statement at Montrose Towne Center
Posted by: Jennifer Brindle in Site NewsOn September 1, Akron AAYAT and their friends from the Akron Chinese Christian Church gathered for a “Day of Advocacy” and fun at Montrose Towne Center on the westside of Akron. The group passed out “Stay Tobacco Free” necklaces and no-smoking lollipops in front of storefronts including the Mustard Seed Market, Acme, and Strickland Ice Cream. The group then gathered at the corner of Medina Rd. and Cleveland-Massilon Roads to present the “Human Billboard”. Everyone held up signs for drivers educating them that “Every 8 seconds someone in the world dies from tobacco-related illnesses”. As drivers honked, participants cheered thanking them for their support. After some activism, everyone then moved on to play a few games of laser tag at LaserQuest Akron, then finished off the day with dinner and a “Thank You Section” at Chipotle. Check out our event pictures below. Akron AAYAT would like to thank youth from the Akron Chinese Christian Church for attending the event.
