On Wednesday, June 13, Dayton AAYAT Interns, David Zhou, Vidya Gogineni, and Mary Woo traveled to Columbus with members of Greene County stand to talk with their local state senators about the importance of continuing to fund tobacco prevention and cessation programming in Ohio. During the previous day, the Ohio Senate Finance committee voted to pass the Governor’s budget proposal to securitize all funding set aside for Ohio through the Master Settlement Agreement of 1998, when 46 states sued the tobacco industry for public health damages. In the governor’s budget, additional money will not be set aside to continue current tobacco prevention and cessation funding in Ohio for programs like AAYAT, stand, and the Ohio Tobacco Quit Line. Check out the pictures from their visit below!
